The 5th e-FAST India Summit

Date:

The 5th e-FAST India Summit, convened under the e-FAST India (Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport) platform led by NITI Aayog, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, financiers, logistics service providers, manufacturers, technology providers, and ecosystem partners to accelerate India's transition to zero-emission freight.

Held on 7 September 2026 at The Ashok, New Delhi, the Summit focused on the theme "Moving from Market Creation to Market Transformation," reflecting the next phase of India's electric freight journey. Building on years of successful pilots, ecosystem collaboration, and policy support, discussions centred on the coordinated actions, partnerships, and market enablers needed to accelerate the large-scale deployment of zero-emission freight.

The Summit commenced with welcome remarks by Smt. Archana Mittal, Advisor (Electric Mobility), NITI Aayog, followed by addresses from Shri V. Umashankar, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, and Mr. Pawan Mulukutla, Executive Program Director – Integrated Transport, Clean Air and Hydrogen, WRI India, and the inaugural address by Shri Rajiv Gauba, Member, NITI Aayog. Together, they highlighted the importance of coordinated policy, industry collaboration, and implementation-focused partnerships in enabling the next phase of India's electric freight transition.

A key milestone of the Summit was the launch of the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) by Shri Rajiv Gauba. An initiative of NITI Aayog under the e-FAST India platform, PACT aims to accelerate large-scale deployment through demand aggregation and projectization, bringing together shippers, logistics providers, OEMs, charge point operators, financiers, and government agencies to enable commercially viable zero-emission freight projects.

The Summit also featured the ZET Marketplace, India's first national showcase of zero-emission freight solutions. Bringing together OEMs, logistics service providers, charge point operators, financiers, technology providers, and industry associations, the Marketplace provided a platform for stakeholders to showcase commercially deployable solutions, explore partnerships, and initiate business conversations that can accelerate deployment across the freight ecosystem.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in high-level discussions on the policy, financing, infrastructure, technology, and implementation pathways needed to scale electric freight. Dedicated working sessions and networking opportunities fostered collaboration across government, industry, and knowledge partners, reinforcing the importance of coordinated action to unlock market growth.

The 5th e-FAST India Summit demonstrated that the next phase of India's electric freight transition will be driven not by individual interventions, but by coordinated action across the ecosystem. As e-FAST India continues to convene stakeholders, enable partnerships, and advance initiatives such as PACT, the platform will play a pivotal role in accelerating the large-scale deployment of zero-emission freight and shaping a cleaner, more resilient freight future.
