Launch of Brazil's Freight Decarbonization Platform

Date:

The Launch of Brazil's Freight Decarbonization Platform marked a pivotal step in addressing emissions from Brazil’s freight sector, which contributes to approximately 40% of transport-related emissions. The event emphasized the need for a collaborative platform to align stakeholders, promote electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and develop bankable green logistics projects.

Sharvari from WRI India participated in a panel discussion, sharing key insights from e-FAST India’s two-year journey. She highlighted how collaboration, demand aggregation, and policy clarity have driven freight electrification strategies in India. Lessons from e-FAST India’s pilots and financing models are expected to inform Brazil’s decarbonization efforts, creating tailored solutions for its freight ecosystem.

Drawing from NITI Aayog’s leadership, the platform aims to replicate India's success by fostering innovation and building market confidence to achieve large-scale adoption of zero-emission freight vehicles.
